Museum of the First Flight

Technical museum with an array of unique exhibits
The former town of Gzhatsk (so called until 1968), the hometown of Yuri Gagarin, not only has memorial museums but also the Technical Museum of Cosmonautics, which opened its doors in 2011. The modern, stylishly designed exhibition is more about cosmonautics in general and presents Gagarin’s flight from an unusual perspective. The exposition of the Museum of the First Flight includes the pressure chamber of the First Cosmonaut Team, a control panel from Baikonur, which was used at the launch on April 12, 1961, its firing key, and much more.
