State Museum of Urban Sculpture

The State Museum of Urban Sculpture is the only museum complex in Russia that manages city monuments, memorial plaques, as well as memorial complexes that have historically developed on the territory of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra-the Necropolis of the XVIII century, the Necropolis of Masters of Arts, the Annunciation and Lazarev tombs. These complexes contain a unique collection of memorial plastics of the XVIII-early XX centuries, created by remarkable sculptors and architects. The monuments of the necropolises are the best examples of artistic tombstones of the XVIII-XX centuries, which reflected the entire path of the development of the memorial genre in monumental sculpture and architecture. Outstanding figures of Russian culture are buried in the museum necropolises: M. V. Lomonosov, F. M. Dostoevsky, N. M. Karamzin, I. A. Krylov, P. I. Tchaikovsky, M. I. Glinka, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, V. F. Komissarzhevskaya, I. I. Shishkin, A. I. Kuindzhi, etc.
