The ethnographic Museum of the peoples of Transbaikalia is a unique open-air Museum, a repository of the richest ethnographic collections representing the material culture of the peoples of the Baikal region, is a favorite place for tourists and the population of Buryatia. Today, the Museum manages 22 objects of cultural heritage-immovable historical and cultural monuments of Federal significance.

Ethnographic Museum of Transbaikal Peoples invites you to visit the archaeological complex, seven ethnographic complexes and the "Living corner".

History

The ethnographic Museum of the peoples of Transbaikalia opened its doors to the first visitors in 1973, after 5 years of scientific, stock and exposition work (the sources of acquisition of Museum funds were expedition fees in the regions of Buryatia, Irkutsk and Chita regions, AGINSKY and Ust-Orda Autonomous districts, Krasnoyarsk territory).
It is included in the List of objects of historical and cultural heritage of Federal significance as a "Museum complex". Today, the Museum manages 22 objects of cultural heritage-immovable historical and cultural monuments of Federal significance. In total, more than 18 thousand items are stored in the Museum's funds.
The territory of the Museum of 30 hectares is divided into 8 complexes-archaeological, Evenki, Soyot, Buryat pre-Baikal and TRANS-Baikal, old-life or Cossack, old-believer, urban, as well as a corner of wildlife. In the interior of houses and residential premises, the most characteristic features are reproduced, reflecting the ethnic and cultural characteristics of the peoples of Transbaikalia.
Every year on the territory of the Museum folk festivals "Easter", "Night of Ivan Kupala", folk festivals "Maslenitsa", "Sagaalgan", etc. are held. In recent years, the Museum has become a venue for large-scale Republican events "Baikal round dance", "night of the Choir".
The Museum is the guardian of the culture of the region, a meeting place and mutual enrichment of past and modern cultures, where every visitor can not only plunge into the atmosphere of the past, but also try their hand at national sports, take part in animated excursions, just spend a holiday with the family in the fresh air.

Ethnographic Museum of Transbaikal Peoples is:
